About Keystone
Keystone is a family-run business with a proud 70-year history. The business has been passed down through three generations of the Heron family.
The business was purchased from the Blue Star Group by Ben Heron in 1945 and named Keystone. Ben obtained the Rover and Land Rover dealership for the region, setting up in Bournemouth town centre in 1946.
Keystone offered something new to the motorist of the time, opening from eight in the morning to midnight, seven days a week and offering a 24-hour breakdown and accident recovery service - something that was unheard of at that time.
In 1969 in the hands of Tony Heron, Keystone took the big step of taking over the BMW distributorship for Hampshire and Dorset. At this time, BMW had just launched its market-leading 2000 and 2002 range. In 1979 distribution, along with the Central Bournemouth premises, were let to the Cooper Group.
In 1982 Keystone bought its current premises in Ringwood, offering pre-owned BMWs and its own brand of customer service. Now, some 70 years from when it all started, the business is run by Paul, one of the third generation of Herons.
When you buy or service a car from Keystone, you get our very special brand of personal service – every customer matters and our reputation in the local area is really important to us. I strongly believe this is shown by the number of recommendations we receive.
Many of our customers happily provide us with repeat business and referrals to their friends and family. It's great to see that we now look after more than a single generation of families.
